Videos Messages from Uganda

In March, 2010, DJ (Delfidio) Narvaez travelled to Uganda with a team from the Young Men’s Educational Network. The team dedicated their time at Kamwenge Secondary and Vocational Institute (KSVI) to work with students, teachers, and staff. DJ recorded their visit in video and photographs.

DJ teaches 5th grade at Washington Elementary School in Schiller Park IL. During the 2009-10 school year, he engaged his 5th grade class in his pending Spring Break Trip to Uganda and took video messages from his students to share with students at KSVI. Upon his return, he shared messages from KSVI students and video from his trip with his 5th grade class and the entire school.

This April, his current 5th grade class gave this presentation about life in Kamwenge, Uganda at a school assembly. (You will need to have a Facebook account in order to access this video.) The shirts worn by the kids were purchased in Uganda.

Washington Elementary School is now raising money for clean water in Kamwenge through bake sales and other creative means. DJ hopes to return to Uganda next year.
